Have you seen those bright red and yellow painted light posts around the neighborhood? Come learn about them and the city’s VisionZERO initiative.

Every 40 hours an Angeleno loses their life in a traffic collision. Children, older adults, and people who walk and ride bicycles are especially at risk of being involved in a fatal collision. In fact, traffic collisions are the number one cause of death for kids in LA. It’s time to put an end to these tragedies, which is why Los Angeles launched Vision Zero. Based on the philosophy that traffic deaths can be prevented, Vision Zero is a city-wide goal to eliminate traffic deaths by 2025.

Our team at LADOT has done extensive data analysis of crashes on Los Angeles streets and found that nearly 65% of all severe and fatal collisions involving people walking and biking happen on just 6% of city streets.

In our neighborhood, the following streets have been identified as a priority for safety improvements for this calendar year.

Adams Blvd. between Hauser and Crenshaw

Crenshaw Blvd. between 79th and Pico

Washington Blvd. between LaBrea and Vermont

LaBrea Blvd. between Pico and Adams
